axtually we have discussed this on another list some time ago. if I remember correctly 2 states were mentioned. One was New jersey(altho they do have a lot of kids) and the other one was Pa. I don’t know how to go about searching each state and what they provide and where is the best place for us to relocate! So I hope you all can offer some advice and

,

I live in Massachusetts and each school district varies CONSIDERABLY when it comes to educational offerings for kids on the spectrum. Some have entire ABA programs set up while others have no ABA whatsoever. I find the laws in Mass to be quite fair, so if you know what your child needs and how to navigate the system, you can usually get it but that can take time and $ depending on the district. If you think you may be moving to Mass., email me offlist and I can share w/you what I know about certain districts and put you in touch w/friends in other towns.

Good luck.

Dana

I'm happy with our services in CA.  We have Regional Centers and if you qualify, you get ABA, respite, etc.  School districts have a lot of services but it can be difficult to get them  It also depends on which RC you belong to and which SD.  The RC's vary in terms of services and so do SD.  I know people in Orange County that only get minimal hours of everything but where I am, we often get much more.  It just depends on where you live but CA does have a lot of services to offer.  We also have a plethora of DAN's, Naturopaths, Homeopaths, etc.Cherylwouldn't do new jersey the rates are high there for a reason of toxisity which won't help your kid,  california when it was talked about before had the BEST rating Recovering from Autism is a marathon NOT a sprint, but FULLY possible! Read more about it on my BLOGs athttp://www.myspace.com/christelking Re: Off Topic/Need Helpaxtually we have discussed this on another list some time ago.  if I remember correctly 2 states were mentioned.  One was New jersey(altho they do have a lot of kids) and the other one was Pa.Maurine Barry <mkjkk5hughes (DOT) net> wrote:Hello!  I know this is off topic but I need help and I feel that everyone on here will be able to help me.Short story: We’ve been fighting our school district to provide an appropriate education for our twin girls.(Nothing new for most right?)  We are looking to move to a state that has everything we need : A state and school system that embraces ABA and provides that teaching without a fight, Biomedical / Naturopathic support. I don’t know how to go about searching each state and what they provide and where is the best place for us to relocate! Sacramento, California!! Lots of holistic help here--my ABA program doesn't necessarily embrace biomedical but the do not speak against it and help in anyway they can. They are very supportive of whatever the parents chose to do. It's a little cheaper here than the rest of the state. Beth

With regards to California, keep in mind we're in a major financial

crisis and the schools are taking a MAJOR hit. 10's of thousands of

teachers being laid off (myself included). Latest I heard 100,000

teachers losing their jobs here in CA. We all want to believe

special ed isn't being hit but we know how that goes. :( Tons of

support with TACA, a few good DANS!, etc. (We live in O.C. and I

think there's a HUGE autism support community here, but we haven't

tapped into it yet.)

If I were in your shoes I would move to LA, rent bc buying is so

outrageous, or relocate to Santa Barbara bc of the Keogals/PRT-ABA.

Near LA move to Thousand Oaks, Simi Valley or areas just outside LA,

but part of their district..great services, the BEST. Di

many other places, and the climate is ideal for being outside in the

I agree, California is good and we live in Oregon and they get 3 times the amount of services that we do. I don't know about other states I know there are some good ones. Do know have an area you are looking at? Back East, west...
