Guest guest
Hi a, I was in an accident in 2000, I fell down a conveyor decline, and busted my shoulder, and jammed my neck. I have seen more doctors, and specialists than I can count, had every test you can think of, and a couple more, had painful injections, and physical theropy. The traction they put my head in a machine, and pulled. That made me about 10 times worse! I have took pills, and took pills, and had patches, and did alot of suffering. The main drug that gives me relief is methadone. I have been on methadone for over 2 years, and it has given me a new life. The dr. that put me on the methadone wanted to inplant a spinal cord stimulator, to help with my headaches, but I didn't like the sound of the trial inplant, and being awake while they operated on me, to tell them if the thing was working or not, and all of the follow up, and adjustments, and things could go wrong, and parts could wear out, or slip, and you would have to have more surgery. All of this, added to the expense, made me not so egar to set it up. The pain dr. dropped me, I could have stayed with him, if I would have had the implant, but since I wouldn't do it, he dropped me. There I was, dependant on methadone, and all the pain specialists, had a 3 month wait...I needed methadone, so I went to the heroin clinic, and told them I was a heroin junkie, I have never used heroin, I don't even like to take more pain pills than the dr. perscribes, but anyway, I got methadone from the drug abuse clinic for several months, until I got another pain specialist. It is a shame that a junkie can get help the same day, but a person that has never broke the law, suffering from terrible pain, must wait for months, and then chances are will only get vicodin or tylenol 3 or some crap like neruontin that don't work. The system stinks. The drug addicts are the reason we can't get oxycontin or other narcotics when people that are in pain need them, but in order to get the narcotics, a person has to pretend to be a drug addict. I have damaged disks in my neck that press on my spinal cord, and I hurt from head to toe. I have splitting headaches that bring me to my knees. My hands and feet, and face are numb and tingle all the time. I have sciatic pain and back/neck pain and muscle spasms. I have had to stop the soma, and klonapin, and cut back the methadone. But the methadone is what helps me function.
Guest guest
I have to say your letter has given me thought to doing the same as you, out of desperation. I don't have a clue as to what I would have to say other than I had a addiction to herion? Is this expensive and do you know if they would take insurance for this or is it perhaps better not to involve insurance so this does not reflect on your medical history? I have to whole heartedly agree with you that it is awful that addicts are given better treatment and more adequate care for their addiction then those of us with chronic pain. This is especially cruel since most of us with chronic pain are not able to get proper treatment because of drug addicts that abuse prescription medications. What a perverted sense of justice our government is dealing out.
