Guest guest
Hi all! I'm new here. My son started on the DAN protocol about a motnh and a half ago. So far we have done the B-12 shots and seen some improvement. His doctor changed his shots and added folinic acid to the B12 and told us to start him on the GFCF diet. We recently put him on the GFCF diet--we started out slow as the taca website suggests eliminating the casein first and now we are gradually eliminating the gluten (so far we have eliminated it from breakfast and lunch and snacks). This week he has had the worst behaviors ever--his autism teacher at school said she has NEVER seen him so violent (he's been with her for 2 years now). Today He hit at her and at a student then proceeded to try and destroy her classroom. In all the books I've read about GFCF diet it said that behaviors can get worse before they get better but is this true in reality? And would it cause a child to totally lose control or is there something else going on? I guess I'm just feeling extremely frustrated and need some input from moms who are doing the diet. Thanks for any help you can give me. Amy
Guest guest
Activated charcoal and/or enzymes may help. Also, remove the rest of the gluten ASAP. We went GFCF before there was a lot of "how to" information out there. We did it within a couple of days and the die-off only lasted a couple of more days after that. I think by having some gluten in you are prolonging the reaction. Just my thoughts.
