Hi Jana,

I'm right there with you! I definitely have a short fuse when I'm in a

flare. It takes all that I have just to get thru the day to day stuff and any

added stress just sets me off. When I get a handle on the flare and my meds are

working I am able to calm down again.

I hate when I'm so short. It's mainly my family who takes the brunt of it.

Dear Jana,

I've never been one who has had a temper, I'v usually been to kind or

easy or so I have been told. But this pain must have this effect

because it was pointed out to me on several occasions before I had to

leave work that at least the tone of my voice was taken as being

angry so I suppose it effects us in ways we are not aware of at times.

Don't feel bad, I am sure that it stems from your pain, not from you

as a person. How can we not be a bit tempermental when it is all we

can do to make it through constant agony. I just try to be more

aware of my tone of voice now when speaking with people and on the

rare occasions when I just cannot help but feel anger, I try not to

direct it towards anyone unless I feel it is really justified.

Yes Jana my temper can be very short also. I usually try and announce to dh

that I feel wicked awful and am not fit for company. I go into the bedroom

and close the door crawl under the covers and crank up the electric blanket.

I take an extra seroquel so that after I read for a bit I will fall asleep.

I try very hard to apologize if I bite dh's head off either immediately or

asap. Our loved ones do not deserve to be our verbal punching bags. It is

not only not fair it can become abusive and cruel.

Fortunately we have this dear group of people to listen to us vent when we

need to. Life isn't fair we have to work with the hand we are dealt.

>it. Does anyone else have trouble with that? What do you do about it?

HI Kaylene...I do the same thing when the pain is intolerable...It just seems I

am spending more and more days in the bedroom with the shades drawn and shutting

everyone out...I dont like the way I seem to be headed! I try to stay involved

since I am in the fire department, But even more andmore I ignore the pager when

it goes off, it just seems like toomuch trouble to get dressed and get outof the

house. I am not a firefighter per say but a fire police, I don't do anything

strenuous except for directing traffic and crowd control, but I just have not

felt like doing ANYTHING
