Guest guest
I can see most of that. I'm not sure if we would attack into the soviet territories though. we have already antagonized the Russians pretty badly as it is. I read a good article today that I will look for and post. It is about how we have been trying diplomacy only without any kind of meaningful economic or military backup. The Iranians, after the Hostage Crisis was resolved tested the US and we blew up a couple of their oil rigs. They behaved for a while after that. Unfortunately, we did not go after their proxies, Hezzbollah and such, like we should have when they attacked us. Just what we do will depend a lot on what happens with Kosovo. Europe now has a new state that is very unstable and is a known haven for crime and Islamic radicals. The Russians also support the Serbs. Whatever happens there will get interesting very quickly. That could have an influence on the US elections too. If war breaks out in Europe, I will bet that European support of Hillary and Obama will fall away really quickly because they would want a Republican in office to come save them. It would also have an effect directly in the US because people would be worried about more war and also about domestic security. You could be right about a late term attack on the Iranian nuke plants and so on. Politicians are petty people and Bush's father left Clinton with a mess in Somalia. He turned a feed the hungry mission, which had been successful into a kill Aideed and nation building exercise just in time to give it to Clinton. Clinton did many things wrong there, which resulted in a nasty defeat for us, but Bush Sr. set the stage for it. we've already got Iraq which will be nasty enough, and if it falls and world oil supplies get disrupted, you can bet the world will blame us for it and with hold us accountable. Musharaff is on his way out and it is likely that anything that takes his place won't be friendly to us. Sadly, we may have fooled around too long and let too many bad guys get away to do anything about it. Still, if a hostile power does take over in Pakistan, it is likely the nukes would be used on India before us."I'm predicting we will see a few things happen before Bush leaves office.1) More of these targeted strikes in countries like Pakistan, Sudan,a few Sub-Saharan African countries, and the Middle East, and possibly a former Soviet country non-allied to the US known to be hosting terrorist militants.2) Some sort of strike against Iran's nuclear reactors/enrichment operations.3) A fusillade of last minute strikes against targets in Afghanistan and Iraq in anticipation of a Democratic administration's probable recall and withdrawal of troops from those two countries.
