Well The final nail in the casket was when Tom's truck Died. We had bought a junker for 500 dollars earlier or we'd have been down to one car. Anyway we are buying a little car on Wednesday. A dodge neon(not new). Because of my crappy credit...Long story (starting with a car wreck and ending in bankruptcy) We have to have a rather large down payment, but it's the only way to get a decent car. Tom's Job is 45 minutes one way and there's no way to take him to work, and 's junker won't do long distances. My docs are an hour away and with Tom taking the only decent car to work it leave's me with no way to the docs and for my plastics in Sept. So I can completely understand. Have you checked to see wether the transmission issue with the astro is a recall? We had a van that blew a gasket and they had to fix it free because it was a part under recall....It's an idea. in Bama VBG 1982 (lost from 433lbs to 270's) VBG -RNY1996 revision(Lost from 343 to 299) RNY-DS revision Dec 2002 -down 141 lbs (377.7 to 236 and still going) Homepage address- http://hometown.aol.com/mdl1031/myhomepage/profile.html Many thanks to Dr. K willing to take on a 3rd timer....LOL
Guest guest
OK, as much as I wanted to with the family and as much as I planned and saved..... I will NOT be attending the pool party!!! I'm so bummed!! Friday morning, we woke up and drove to my mother's house to pick her up, and we were going to drive " down below " to Tujunga to babysit my niece Alyson, as my sister had a doctor's appointment. We stopped at Starbuck's, bought a coffee for my mother, and proceeded to get on the freeway..... then as I'm wondering my car wouldn't go into overdrive... my engine starts whirring. I hit the accelerator...nothing happens, but the engined whirred some more for me. I single to the right, get off at the next end, and limp my van back to my mother's house. I call , he comes home from work, Mom and the kids and I jump into Mom s RAV (ok, three long-legged kids and me plus mom in this RAV... can you say CRAMPED?!?!!) and head down the hill to my sister's house. limps the van to the dealership where they inform him that I have first and third gear ONLY. (we found this is a common thing on the Astro as a gear was made wrong or something. If they replace it, we have a chance of getting another screwed up gear and going through the same thing in a year.) Then, after we get the van fixed, we'll fix up the car for Brittany, as by then she should at least have her learner's permit. She's a real good kid, all Honor's Classes, in the AFJROTC, on the Honor Roll... I have no problem doing this for her, but so that she appreciates it, Dad said she had to help work on it and learn how to change the oil, air filter, spark plugs if necessary, etc. So, she'll know how it works inside and out and be able to NOT be taken advantage of. Smart guy, her daddy! Anyway, unless I magically can get a car to take me over the hill, we will not be able to attend the shin-dig this year... which totally ticks me off! Have some yummy protein cake for me! And for those who loved the tri tip last year... I had two that were marinated tonight in teriyaki sauce... I would definitely recommend!!! Melisa S. I hope everything works out the way you're hoping with the interim car. I can't make it to the pool party either but I was hoping to see you at the meeting. I'll miss you! Hugs!
