Without my effexor, I probably wouldn't get out of bed in the morning .

My hubby takes effexor too - I don't take anything except St s wort - don't you have to wean off effexor? - Kerry

A friend told me last night she had to be weaned off effexor, but she was going off AD's, now switching.

Kerry, I don't know if you have to be weaned off effexor - the information sheet the pharmacy gave me with my first prescription says not to stop taking it without checking with your doctor, now whether or not that means weaning I don't know. I've only been on it six months or so , my doctor switched me off fluvoxamine because it's not liver friendly but neither is effexor so - who knows . Suzie

Cat: Thanks. There are meds that work for some and not for others. I didn't respond to interferon and it kicked my butt. It wasn't a bad drug, it just didn't clear the virus. I was never clinically depressed before Tx. but remained depressed long after I stopped the meds. Even with a less than positive outcome with inf + riba, Peg worked. Most Docs are not prescribing drugs to screw us up, but we need to be good consumers. With this group, the willingness to be patient and have an open mind, we will get what we need to make informed decisions. Thanks to all for the discussion about anti depressants. Mike
