***ABA SCHOOL OPENING IN CHICAGO AREA***

Opening

The R.A.C.E. School will be opening its doors soon.

We are preparing to open in May/June 2003.

Location-

N-NW Chicago suburb of Lake Zurich, IL

Students-

Age at intake: 2.5 - 6.0

Case-by-case determination will be given to children who fall outside of this

age range.

Diagnosis-

Autism or other related disorder.

Primary area of need is specialized language development that requires

intensive intervention.

Methodology-

The R.A.C.E. School specifically utilizes the science of Applied Behavior

Analysis and methods of teaching language based on B.F. Skinner's Analysis of

Verbal Behavior to teach language.

Curriculum-

A curriculum is developed for each student that identifies his/her specific

areas of need across various domains, including: cooperation, receptive

language, requesting needs and wants, conversational skills, math, reading,

gross/fine motor skills, self-help and other areas of need to strengthen

development.

These skills are identified through direct and indirect measures, including

the Assessment of Basic Language and Learning Skills (ABLLS) developed by

Partington, J. & Sundberg, M. Additional curricula will be introduced as the

student demonstrates specific needs.

Staff-

Our staff are hired based on interest, experience, and formal education in

the areas of education, special education, psychology, and related fields.

Staff receives extensive training under the supervision of a Board Certified

Behavior Analyst.

Parents-

Parents are provided hands-on training in the application of ABA emphasizing

a Verbal Behavior approach.

Communication between home and school on a regular basis is considered a

critical component to progress.

Among various responsibilities, including parents maintaining and

generalizing skills in the home environment, parents are required to attend

staff meetings on a monthly basis and demonstrate skills in ABA in the

natural environment.

Tuition-

Part-time placement: $18,000 (available June-August 2003 only)

Full-time placement: $30,000 (available beginning September 2003)

Fundraising opportunities for scholarships will be given to parents and

individual grants will be written within the year.

Student to Teacher Ratio-

The classroom will consist of a 1:1 student: teacher ratio.

Class Size-

The pilot program will consist of a limited number of students in the summer

months of June-August 2003 for a half-day program. Following this, we

anticipate expanding to a maximum of 6 students for full-day placement.

Calendar-

The R.A.C.E. School is a year-round education center. We follow the local

school district's school calendar, with additional parent and/or staff

development days.

students.
