I am still trying to find a substitute for apple juice/cider. My son drinks

this mixed with

carrot juice and purified water. If I don't add a little apple juice he usually

won't drink. He

does NOT like pear juce at all. Curious what others are giving.

Really hope I don't something else started, but apple cider is permitted on the SCD as it doesn't feed yeast. We use it here liberally but stay away from apple juice.

This confused me for awhile but cider has the pulp of the apple in it. We buy it organic/unpasturized and even make it into popsicles.

You can also try grape juice, Welch's in the bottle, not frozen.

Well I picked up some V8 fusion that my son seems to like. It has alot

of sugar though so I am just putting a little in a bottle and then

filling the rest with water. He doesnt seem to mind that. Also, I give

him honest kids juice for school, which has 10 grams of sugar and just

got some boxes of wateroos, which Im hoping he'll like... His teacher

was wanting me to send him in some sprite so she could work on signing

for it since he wont drink much of his water at school.. I am just

going to send the wateroos instead.. He really doesnt need all that

sugar! But its hard to explain this to other people sometimes :(

Do you do anything to remineralize the reverse osmosis water?

I discussed that with his DAN and was told for now not to because he takes so many mineral supplements. I am the only one missing out and need to add something to my own drinking water. In a perfect world my children would drink water all day too BUT this is the

only way I can

hide the mountain of supplements, vitamins and meds that I need him to take -

he's not 3

yet even. So I do need something semi sweet to entice him : )

This is why I am still searching the perfect juice to give him, sweet but not

feeding yeast. I

think the best choice is Pear but he won't drink it. Bummer.

For years, I used fresh orange juice (sometimes pineapple) diluted with

water about 1:5 ratio. This was the juice that could " hide " most

everything... Lots of praise and encouragement as well. Offering

ahead of time a promise of a surprise snack afterwards is a great help

as well. I sometimes did not even say anything and would just surprise

my kid with the special snack. Surprise snack = something your kid

loves, is low in sugar, meets your dietary criteria and your child does

not get often (therefore very desirable). Good Luck!

How about lemonade, we do that with just organic lemons, sweetened with a combination of Stevia and Xylitol, made from birch. We call them Lemon Shakes, like the county fairs have. That wouldn't feed the yeast and they taste great, also good in popsicles.

I too put a crapload of supplements into three cups of a juice

concoction every day for my three year old..... and less in his rice

milk as it's harder to hide in that. We are not SCD, only casein

free (we tested clear on gluten peptide test and close to borderline

on casein so we went ahead and pulled it) but maybe you could figure

out a variation. I put liquid OLE, Valtrex, liquid GSE, Kirkmans

spectrum complete powder, Sacc B, DMG, magnesium, CLO, pro EFA,

natural vitamin E, high EPA omega 3's, zinc, mycellized vitamin A and

Houston AFP Peptizyde and probably a few others that have slipped my

mind in varying combinations into my sons juice with 1 tsp of

Kirkmans gfcf cherry flavoring syrup, 1 oz of orange juice and 1 oz

of sprite and some xylitol (the birch kind)..... basically a shirly

temple with a shot of valtrex and a buttload of supplements. I know

the sprite sounds really, really bad but it is the ONLY thing we have

found that hides the bitterness of the Valtrex. As a matter of fact

it seems to hide the bitterness over pretty much everything..... I

think it's just the carbonation. We are currently in the process of

gradually switching from sprite to tonic water to avoid as much of

the sugar in the sprite as we can...... I don't know anything about

the SCD diet so I have no idea if you can have orange juice on

that..... or cherry flavoring syrup or tonic water for that matter,

but this is what is working for us. The only thing that's worked for

us actually (and that's with the Valtrex compounded already lol).

My kids drink all diluted juices (one part juice to four parts water)

They drink grape juice and pear juice. They are all organic not from

concentrate pure juices. We had yeast issues before the diet change,

but none since. From what I understand, these juices have sugar

molecules that are small enough to be absorbed in the gut and are not

likely to cause yeast overgrowths. (apparently apple cider too) The

juice should be very diluted however. My boys drink about 6 glasses a

day so in reality it is probably only one glass of juice and five

glasses of water. However, children may react to the juice because of

phenols or salicylates. (spelling?)

Beet Lemonade In half gallon glass jug put in:1/2 cup Biotta Beet juice1/2 cup Santa Cruz Organic Lemon juice1 cup of dark agave nectar (light ok)Shake vigerouslythe rest with filtered waterShake againWhen starting out you can put more lemon and less beet and gradually work your way up. Honey can also be used but is harder to mix in cold liquids and I choose agave because it is lower in glycemic. I also put cranberry concentrate sometimes

Perrier or Pellegrino- I squeeze fresh lime/lemon and add a couple of

drops of liquid Stevia- He thinks it is sprite although he will drink

it w/out anything added and knows it is perrier or pellegrino.

It sounds delish, but is it desirable/nutritious or a treat? Matt

drinks water right now and I only want to get him started on those

things that can help heal him...I do not want to intro anything I may

have to limit...if this is good for you, I will start making it and

giving it right away....cheers. Di

Careful with too mcuh carbonated water...added carbonation supresses

healthy thyroid function, another reason why all the fake drinks,

even the water ones, are not good for our bodies. I drank bottled

water with added carbonation - both the brands you just named,

throughout my pregnancy to ease indigestion and wound up with a

thyroid problem and a mystrious BIG weight gain which is resolving

slowly and naturally once I stopped drinking carbonated bevs and made

some other eliminations....sluggish thyroid is not good, overactive

is not good either...if your kid shows symptoms related to either

case it could be the carbonated drinks esp if he drinks ALOT...lol Di-

It is nutritious, it naturally chelate's, it tastes yummy and it is the only thing he will take with his yukky gross tasting meds. I give him anything gross medicine wise in a shot dispenser orally and it is the only way he will take it. He washes it down with the beet lemonade and it has been our best success yet. It helps regulate the digestive systems, it is an amazing vegetable. http://www.whfoods.com/genpage.php?tname=foodspice & dbid=49http://ezinearticles.com/?Benefits-And-Importance-Of-Beet-Juice & id=117047

My son is unfortunately, a juice hound. He will not drink water. No way, no how. Only a sip when brushing his teeth...or should I say when I brush his teeth.
