Guest guest
Hello, Terry. I'm too new to offer much help to you, but I have recently discovered that I started my thyroid treatment too soon. I should have checked adrenals with appropriate tests and worked on those before starting/raising Armour doses. One site that has helped tremendously is Dr. Rind's. He uses a holistic approach to healthcare, and seems knowledgeable about the thyroid/adrenal/other hormone relationship. He has a good section about charting and interpreting body temperatures. http://www.drrind.com/therapies/metabolic-temperature-graph. Guest guest
I have low thyroid/low adrenal issues. I keep running an afternoon temp of about 99.4. I had a UTI but that has been supposedly treated. Do you run colder or warmer with low adrenal? I can’t imagine that I’m getting too much thyroid. My last labs showed I was in low normal for thyroid and I can only tolerate tiny increases, so it would be so unlikely for it to be too much thyroid…especially since I don’t have any other hyper symptoms. Any ideas? My body temp was often 96-97 during the day. I was eventually diagnosed with thyroid and adrenal problems, and eventually developed 's disease. While I still have other 'issues' both Armour and Hydrocortisone replacement improved my body temps SIGNIFICANTLY and now they are pretty much normal.....except when I'm ill, severely stressed, low on hydrocortisone or 'tweeking' my thyroid meds. If you do start on thyroid meds and still don't feel well, I would suggest you have your adrenals properly tested via saliva/blood/urine tests. I wasted LOTS of time and LOADS of money on homeopaths as they tried to 'fix' my glands, when I had a true medical problem that required hormone replacement. I don't doubt that other alternative therapies can be helpful, but you do have to be careful and methodical. To: Texas_Thyroid_Groups From: oakleynec@... I have suffered many years of low body temperature but didn’t suspect thyroid/adrenal hormones. I have been to plenty of MDs that never suggested that as a problem. I visit a traditional Chinese doctor and herbalist in Houston that diagnosed me as Yin (Cold Constitution) body type. The Asians consider this a dangerous and painful body type. The acupuncture therapy, herbs and food are helpful but it requires much discipline and slow results. It might be easy for a monk in a monastery but quite difficult for a Wisconsin Lutheran residing in Houston. Following the advice in the book I took my awaking thyroid temperature readings for 45 days and my average is 96.75 degrees. I also took the 5 day adrenal readings at 3 hour intervals and that average is 96.5 degrees. Charts are attached. Has anyone had those ranges of readings and did thyroid treatment help? The moderator was very kind to give me a list of doctors in the Houston area. Would anyone in the group like to offer a personal recommendation for a kind and knowledgeable doctor in the Sugar Land vicinity? I sincerely appreciate this site and all who contribute. Guest guest
Low adrenal can manifest with LOW temperatures, not high. I also find that my temps can run higher DESPITE the fact my Free T4 and Free T3 are both at low range. I have no idea why this is so, but it confounds both me and my doc. Guest guest
Hi there. I live in east Texas but travel to Houston area frequently. I have been looking for a good doctor willing to incorporate natural or holistic medicine along with conventional medicine. Or I would like to find a person knowledgable in nutrition and supplements to work with me. Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks. Guest guest
Delana I have found two helpful traditional/natural facilities in SW Houston. First is Mark Hammer, Master Herbalist. He studied under a traditional Korean doctor. I highly recommend him. His web site is http://www.traditional-chinese-herbs.com/ & . Second is Houston Medical Clinic 9889 Bellaire Blvd Suite E219A, Houston 77036 phone . This is just off Beltway 8 and Bellaire Blvd in the heart of China Town. There are two traditional Chinese doctors there. I use Mandy. She is a kind and gentle doctor. Tell her your concerns and she will write prescriptions in Chinese you take to the Chinese herb pharmacy across the street and have filled. The owner is also a traditional Chinese doctor. In addition to them there is a regular MD () and a physician’s assistant (). The clinic takes most health insurance so if you see the regular doctors first they can prescribe acupuncture/ massage and insurance will cover treatment. I go at least once a week for 1 hour massage and acupuncture. I use Boqian Zhang (Amber) for massage. She is great. I have Fibromyalgia from Cold Constitution body type (probably hypothyroid) and they have helped make it tolerable. Hope that helps and best wishes.
