Guest guest
Hello Everyone, I am Nash, I am 21 (yep... **sad face**) anyways I have EN for about 4 years now, the first time I got EN was when I was 17, my soccer coach had made me work harder on my calves for upcoming season. I've never worked out so much on my legs before, thats when I first got my EN, but the doctor didnt recognize it as EN and just prescribed painkillers and after a month or two its gone. I got EN again when I was 19, thats when I contacted different doctor and he recognized it as EN, he also asked me to stop playing soccer . EN passed off again in a month or two and now its back again when I'm 21. I noticed its always in summer time that I contract this disease. I am moving to dallas in a week, and I was thinking I should just wait till I go to dallas and then get to a doctor. Do you guys think thats fine? Have you guys seen anyone get cured from EN before? I'm confused and kinda irritated that I need to get so much rest everyday for the swelling to go away. P.S: This is my daily routine Wake up in the morning, my legs are not swollen, the lumps kinda hurt a little bit when I walk around its not too bad. I go to work everything still looks just fine (btw I'm allowed to wear flip-flops because of my condition ). At around 4 or 5 my leg starts to swell and it swells up like a balloon. I come back home take rest on my bed watching tv (take asprin if I have pain) and swelling slowly goes away and when I wake up the next day my legs back to normal. This cycle keeps going on 'n on 'n on arrrgggghhhhhhhhhh!!!!!! P.S#2: The swelling is worse only on my left ankle, the right one kinda swells a lil bit but its fine. Guest guest
Hello to everyone! I suppose I would be considered a lurker here. I joined this group several weeks ago, but we've been remodeling our house and I had to move my computer twice and for a few weeks it was down completely. Geez, there are a lot of messages for me to go through and I'm still working through them all. I'm 46 years old and I first got EN in the summer of 1994 when I was just about to turn 37. It started with awful aches in my legs, like you have when you get the flu or the type of ache I always get before a period, but much worse. I also had a sore throat only on one side that seemed to never go away. We went to Las Vegas and I just suffered so bad. I had to take aspirin about four times a day and rest. When we got home I noticed a bump on my right shin and after manipulating it I guess I made it worse and it got so bad I went to the doctor who told me I had phlebitis. Having a little medical background I knew what thrombophlebitis looked like and I wasn't sure he was right. That first bout with EN was the worst I've ever had but I've had it mostly in my left shin, close to the ankle off and on since 1994. Everytime I went to the doctor I would show him my bump and it just never seemed like a big deal so I didn't worry about it. Then, in December of 2003 I went to the clinic because I thought I was getting the flu as we had just gotten home from Las Vegas (we go often) and I was feeling bad. This *new* doctor finally told me I had EN and wrote it down for me and told me to do some research on it, which I did. Oh God, I'm rambling (sorry) but to make a long story shorter, I think I have a mild case when I have flareups. I've had small knots by my knee in my right leg, but nothing that ever lasts a long time. I got pneumonia at the end of February of this year and after taking Omnicef I had a flareup in my left leg and a small knot in my right leg too. I went for two years with no problems with my legs, but I had lost 40 pounds (down to 125) and wasn't eating any sugar or starchy foods. I have since been eating small amounts of sugar and it seems like I have more flareups when I'm not leading a sugar free diet. Has anyone else noticed this? Also, I'm a lifelong vegetarian and I've always walked or taken some sort of regular exercise. I'm wondering if anyone else has more flareups by riding a bike or walking? Like many that have posted here, I've had many days when I just feel terrible and have to keep my legs up. I too have the bruise spots when the knots leave, but no indentations thus far. My heart just goes out to those on this list that have swollen legs and ankles. Thank goodness I found this group! Joni
Guest guest
Hi Nash I am new to EN and dont have all the results from the Dr yet. When it all started, my right foot would swell up during the day. It would get huge. Swelling is not a good thing ever - it reduces circulation. What I did was more of a preventative measure. I used compression wraps to prevent the swelling from even starting. I would wrap and unwrap my foot throughout the day - in the evenings, when I was laying down, I would keep it off completely. I would talk to a doctor first though, before trying this. It worked great for me but may be harmful to you. good luck, Beth --- nash_ave wrote: > Hello Everyone, > > I am Nash, I am 21 (yep... **sad face**) anyways I > have EN for about 4 > years now, the first time I got EN was when I was > 17, my soccer coach > had made me work harder on my calves for upcoming > season.
