Dear Mel,

On behalf of all our members, welcome to our Erythema Nodosum Group!

Thanks for sending in your Questionnaire. I have added the information

to our " Member Medical History " Files on the Group site and posted it

below.

You now have Full EN Group privileges.

You are receiving ALL EN Group emails, and you can also go to the EN

Group site whenever you like:

http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/erythema_nodosum_Group/

and logging on with your Yahoo ID and secret password.

You do not have to have the group emails delivered to be a member here.

You are the second member to join this week who has needed to be

hospitalized. I'm so sorry you are having such a rough go. Your case

illustrates several points: that even after a long remission EN can

come back, and that once steriods are discontinued, the EN often

returns. I am hoping the dr.s checked you for the most common EN

triggers. Are you taking meds for the polycystic ovaries or any form

of hormones? That could very well be what is causing the EN! There are

other EN meds to try, but we must find that trigger to stop the EN for

good. It's a pleasure to welcome another member from the UK.

Love,

*****

I first had EN about 9 yrs ago but havn't had it for the last 7 yrs.

I have now had EN since the begining of Jan and still suffering.

This time has been the worst, i was first put on bed rest and

painkillers then a course of steriods, i was then put in hospital

because the pain was so bad and i had severe joint pain.

I couldn't even brush my hair or dress myself.

I've had a lot of medication, i'm now on Dapsone but i'm still suffering.

Just as one red lump goes another one appears my joints are still very

bad to the extent i can hardly walk, i'm in a wheel chair most of the

time.

I've been told that if i'm not sore then i'm fine to walk around as

normal but this just seems to put me back to were i was.

Health : polisytic ovaries, depression

Medicaton : Ibuprofen - not effective

declfenac - not effective

paracetemol - not effective

trimadol - helps with pain

morphine - helps with pain

steriods - had a big course for a quite

a few wks, this helped but it all flared up when they finished.

working, this is all i'm on now apart from painkillers
