Guest guest
Hi, all! New to group after being diagnosed with Hypo after delivering my third child. Hopeful you all can help me understand these awful things I'm going through. Ranges in TSH have been anywhere from 84 to 34 - no where near the 0.5 - 5.0 normal. At first, sypmtoms were simply mild and only had trouble losing baby weight and experienced heavy periods. Only found high TSH level after a routine blood test done for insurance purposes. OGYN did notice a small goiter. But now after being on Synthroid, have experienced massive hair loss (have lost over 1/3rd of my hair in just 2 weeks (!), constant numbness in my arms and legs, and terrible mood swings. My doctor (who I think might be crazy... Dr. Castenada in Plano - anyone know her?) says I should simply cut my hair short and tells me that my high dose of Synthroid (125 mg) is not to blame. But I feel like the crazy sypmtoms have only happened since I started on the high dose. Does anyone have any insight? Should I stop taking the Synthroid? If I leave my doctor, what are some things I should insist on with the next doctor? How can I stop this hair loss? At this rate, I will be wearing a scarf by the end of the month. Please help!
