Guest guest
Woo Hoo Debi You are SUCH a success story! And you give me some hope losing a bit more weight after a long plateau such as I am on now. It is so good to read reports that there are a LOT of us who have had pretty complication free journeys following the surgery. I truly count my blessings. And saggy skin or no we are so much better off than we were before. Keep updating! Big Hugs! Your fan in Washington,

Guest guest
Debi...what a wonderful outcome you have had! Congrats!!! I just thought I'd point out one little thing...you said you are 1 pound from a normal bmi....I say your ALREADY there. This is my reasoning....if you had the redundant skin removed it would be over 1 pound, therefore your body weight, that you can actually do anything about (without surgery), is already in the normal bmi range....CONGRATULATIONS!!! Glad your keeping an eye on the Vit. D. Have you also tried a tanning booth to get your body to produce the Vit. D? Thanks for the update....the newbies are the only ones who like to hear how things are going. Hugs Jo
Guest guest
good to here from you . great update take care amber 17 Month Update - Long When I was a preop I read every group I could, and did so nearly 24 hours a day. I promised myself I would post regularly as a post-op knowing how important updates were to pre-ops. I have broken that promise, and do not post as often as I planned. But here is an overdue update: I have lost 123 pounds in these past 17 months. I had absolutely no complication after surgery, and continue to be complication free. I do fight low vitamin D (I live in a rain forest, not much sunshine) but my PCP keeps a close watch on it, and I supplement. White flour is my enemy. So I avoid things that I should not be eating too much of anyway. I have taken Marta's advice and eat sprouted grain bread, so I do not feel deprived. But otherwise I eat just about anything. Protein first veggies next then whatever if I have room. I am no longer on high BP medication. Pain in my knees and feet are gone. Yesterday I put on a pair of size 10 pants and they fit. Maybe it was a sizing error as I usually wear a 12. But I will accept the size 10 tag and call it my size. LOL Prior to surgery I was wearing a size 24/26 pant. I was on a plateau for the past 5 months, but have started losing again. I would like to lose another 10-15 pounds as I know I will have a bounce up of 10 to 15 pounds in the end, if I am like most DS folks. I love where I am at now. I am one pound away from normal BMI, prior to surgery my BMI was 43. How cool is that!!?? I recently went on a trip, and when I got on the plane I had about 12 inches of extra seat belt. When I flew to CA for my DS I had to have a seat belt extension. I still fight my demons, such as late night eating, of things I should not, at times I find myself surprised that I still look so fat. I know Dr. K does not work on our heads. LOL Also I do not exercise as much as I should, but have been working on that. I have saggy arms, neck, tummy and of course breasts. But I am okay with that on most days. I worry that I eat too much, but so do most DS folks. Well that is about it. I have been blessed with a complication free journey. For that I am thankful.
