Guest guest
Well, today is my first free day after completing week 1 of my first challenge. Woo hoo!! Since I had alreading been working out since the end of November (but not as intensely as BFL) and eating frequently (good timing, bad content), it was not a big shock to my system or psyche. I managed to get in almost all of my meals (and thanks, Jen B., for tips on timing) and all of my workouts. I'm using some Palm software (BodyADVANCE, formerly BodyforLifeAssistant), which helps me plan and track meals and workouts (and satisfies the geek in me!). Unfortunately, I didn't have any good body fat readings done before starting, although I probably could have at the gym. But the program takes measurements (and other stats such as age and height) and can do 3 different calculations of body fat using them. Maybe not the most accurate measurement, but hopefully the trend is right - especially since it shows a 1 lb increase in lean and a 1 lb decrease in fat!!! BTW, I take all three readings, which are actually very close, and average them. One of the changes since pre-BFL workouts is that I'm using the free weights and traditional machines more than I was before (I was using almost exclusively the TechoGym line, which I guess is pretty hot). I'm also using the Free Motion cable equipment more - I like the lat pulldown sitting on a ball. It sure helps having a variety to choose from (although I didn't think I was EVER going to get my hands on the gizmo to do preacher curls the other night - and it was FRIDAY!). For the upcoming week, I took advantage of the holiday to REALLY plan my meals - the complete menu is posted on the refrigerator door, and the recipes are on the counter. Found some good ones to try on the internet (after running them through some diet analysis software to make sure what I'm really getting). I have to give credit to the group for helping me to stay focused and motivated - and I'm going to try to post more to stay more accountable. Thanks to all, Betsy (in San where the sun has finally come out in the city - but the folks on the rivers are getting severely flooded, and some hadn't even finished the repairs after the " 100 year " flood of 1998!) Guest guest
Hi Betsy, Sounds like you are totally set for week 2! I use the BFL Assistant for Palm too - didn't know there was another upgrade available, though. I'm going to have to check it out. Keep that enthusiasm up and you will go far, and definitely keep us posted on your progress! I love to hear stuff like this - keeps me feeling motivated too.
