Guest guest
I would love a Bullmastiff...I LOVE BIG dogs and those are my favorites. Did you get him when he was a puppy? How old was Nicolas when you got him? How are they as far as shedding and slobber?? :-) Jill Mom to Mac & Kit [DownSyndromeInfoExchange] Border collies/dogs We have a Bullmastiff who is just wonderful with Nicolas..like a bigteddy bear. Never an ounce of aggression no matter what he does. Thebreeder's dogs were the same way, very gentle.Of course they are BIG and not for everyone but we love them!a
Guest guest
We have a Tibetan Terrier that we got several months ago. She is 13 months old. She is medium size about 30 pounds and looks like a mini sheep dog, I never heard of them until we were looking for a puppy and after checking all the shelters we went to the local pet store and fell in love with our Sassy, They do not shed much and are very loving. They may not be good for small kids but I think it is all in how you raise them. Just my two cents.blitzpooch wrote: We have a Bullmastiff who is just wonderful with Nicolas..like a bigteddy bear. Guest guest
We currnetly have 4 dogs- a doberman (born with deformed fromt paws and is now 12 years old and doing well!), a shephard mix, an australian shephard and a border collie. All 4 are great withmy eight year old daughter, na(DS). Our australian shephard (4 yrs) & border collie (3 yrs) were both rescued from shelters. They are wonderful animals. They have alot of energy which helps them keep up with na! We have also had a german shephard (passed away 3 yrs ago) and a greyhound (passed 2 years ago). They were also great with na. It has alot to do with training the dogs properly and teaching your children to respect the dogs. I am a strong supporter of rescuing animals-whether froma shelter or specific breed rescue. It is also a good option to consider getting a dog as opposed to a puppy. Some people often think getting a pure breed is the best option, I don't always agree- sometimes with pure breeds there are behavior issues and health problems due to over breeding. Good luck!
