Guest guest Posted July 3, 2008 Report Share Posted July 3, 2008 This is my first summer making kefir and kombucha, and I've noticed they've been attracting fruit flies! I leave the kefir/kombucha on the counter to ferment with a cloth towel over the tops of the bowl/jar. Lately, fruit flies have been sitting on the towels and I'm a bit concerned about this...are they laying eggs on the towel? Could this contaminate what's under the towel?
