Guest guest
My mother also has an obsession with the kitchen being clean. In fact, no one is supposed to use the oven because it could dirty. Now the oven has a self-cleaning feature, but it will never be used because the oven is basically not used. Mother is a recluse, so of course when Thanksgiving comes every year, she has asked me to prepare an entire Thanksgiving dinner in my home two hours away and drive is up to her. We are not welcome to stay for a meal with her because it would be too much work for her to have company. The crazy part is that she reheats everything piece by piece in a tiny toaster oven that is lined with aluminum foil. I remember one year when she tried to reheat the meal in the regular oven and spilled the turke gravy all over the oven. She freaked out and from that point on, never used the oven again. THe kitchen linoleum floors have to be mopped twice a day and the stainless steel sinks have to be scrubbed clean three times. She's also obsessive with the laundry and when she was injured, she refused to allow the help to run the washing machine. SHe wanted me to drive two hours in each direction to run the machine for her. How could her help possbily goof up the laundry if she told them what water temperature to wash everything at? It's all that " control " stuff. Even when we went to visit her on Mother's Day, she had me waste one hour looking for an order form in a pile of papers in the basement; the reality is that the order form could be reprinted on the computer in under one minute and I had to waste an hour of my time sifting through piles of paper and books to find something ridiculous that wasn't even down there. The woman couldn't even walk down the steps toe put the order form there, so why did she have me waste that special day looking for a non-existent needle in the haystack?
