Guest guest
Welcome to the list. This is a nice egroup to belong to, and I'm sure you'll like it here. I will show you the symptoms of my son , who was formally diagnosed with Autism last September: here are his characteristics: hearing hypersensitivity (afraid of sweeper, blender, autoshops) bad eyesight -wears 8x lenses only a few words - and not always spoken clearly or often babblies quite a bit – mostly incoherent , but different sounds all the time communicates well nonverbally - by pointing, bringing us understands spoken language pretty well can follow simple commands with very little assistance is very happy most of the time " freaks out " when he has to be examined by doctors - sometimes he'll just flat out refuse plays appropriately with most toys often turns books so the cover faces him, and lets the pages open - watching them that way has a big head - looks normal though (i have a big head too) plays with sister in taking turn games or cooperative games loves movies and video games can use severl buttons on a keyboard and the mouse can play video games somewhat (knows pause, shoot, etc) very well behaved normally - good in stores for the most part loves to watch me draw letters/numbers/words on his magnadoodle -he'll listen as i say each one, then he'll erase what i did adn wait for the next - we can easily do this for 20 minutes. ******************************************************************** Amy (26), mom of 3 kids: sara(7), alex (5,autistic), nick(15mos.). I am a seperated mom to three beautiful little girls, as you can see in my signature. My Rayne, my middle daughter, is in the process of diagnosis of... something. We have been seeing p-docs for about 2 1/2 years now, but haven't gotten very far yet, because of lack of health insurance for long periods of time, and because her father was working against me. He is also anti-meds and refused to let her try any. But we are finally on the road to diagnosis, with the help of the local University's community screening program, where someone FINALLY believed me. Since we have been working with them, we have discussed the possibility of several different and/or co-morbid disorders. Mentioned have been childhood onset bipolar disorder (which we highly suspect), OCD (which has been diagnosed), sensory integration dysfunction (diagnosed), Aspergers or PDD (still looking into that) and TS (also, still looking into). So my next step of course is to learn all I can about these disorders, and talk to other families who have experience. I have been on the bipolar lists for about a year now, and have learned so much. I hope to do the same here. Thanks!! Beverly depression, anxiety, thyroid disease (Paxil and Synthroid) mom to Sydney 6 (my little cheerleader in the making) Dakota 29 months (my little nursling) and Rayne 5 (my little artist) suspected COBPD (current dx's OCD and SID) Melatonin 300 mcg Adderal trial failed miserably! Daughter to a wonderful bipolar man (ex-lithium, Graves disease, currently Depakote and Synthroid) _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com
