Guest guest
Greetings Foodies, This may seem tangential, but keep reading. A friend of mine and I are traveling up to Grand Marais for the weekend of September 26th for the Unplugged: The Northern Harvest event at the North House Folk School and have room to take one or perhaps two more people. If you don't know about the school check out their web pages. Okay, here is the connection: besides offering classes in traditional arts and crafts (everything from fiber arts and music to woodcarving and sustainable living) they have food classes - Home Brewing, wood-fired baking, sausage making, Wild Rice Harvesting and the list goes on. This particular weekend, besides classes, there is a Fish Boil, Contra Dance and big Folk Music concert. We are planning to leave mid-morning Friday and return mid-day Monday. It is a long drive (5 hours) and would enjoy the company and sharing gas expenses with like-minded people. I may be just an overly trusting person, but I feel more comfortable offering ride-sharing to Trad food folks than to just anyone.. (At first it occurred to me that wouldn't anyone that fits the " woodsy/artist type " be safe? Then I thought Ed Geen might have described himself that way.) Anyway if you are considering it, try to get lodging asap (this also happens to be the big " peepers " weekend - people that drive up to the North Shore to look at the fall colors.) Shoot me an email if you are interested. BTW, I use Yahoo only for Trad foods and it has become the first thing I want to read, when checking all of my other email sites. Hope to meet many of you at the Warehouse Open House....you too, Will. Lynn
