Guest guest
Dear Group, Please join me in welcoming our newest member, Bobby Vollmer. Bobby, I have added your Questionnaire to our Member Medical History Files at the Group site and posted it below. You now have full EN Group Privileges. You are receiving ALL EN Group emails, remember that you can go to the EN Group site whenever you like by going to : http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/erythema_nodosum_Group/ and logging on with your Yahoo ID and secret password. You do NOT have to have the group emails delivered to be a member here. I too first got EN when I was 21. I'm 57 now. I usually get each EN episode lasting 2 weeks or less. I only have one leg affected and only have one or 2 nodules at a time in the exact same place as before. I've never used any drugs. I rarely get fevers. I have a " mild case " , but I do tend to get EN more frequently than in my younger days. It sounds like you are on to something with such an improvement! :-) Any ideas what changed? Love, ******** 1. Your name and age: Bobby Vollmer, 49 2. Your location: Sydney, Australia 3. Your email address: bv@... 4. Your Yahoo ID: bobbyvol 5. Describe your erythema nodosum/PG symptoms or, if you do not have EN or PG, please explain why you wish to join this group. I have had EN since I was 21 (28 years now). In that time I have had biopsies, chest x-rays, GI tract tests, TB tests, tests for Strep, and anything else the medical profession could think of. No cause was ever established. I have also tried every drug the doctors could think of to help the symptoms. In the past 2 years I have found the best help has come from high dosages of Naprosyn sodium (Anaprox). My episodes (the doctors don't like me calling them attacks!) occur irregularly, usually once or twice a year. I have taken prednisone (again very high dosages) when the episodes have been too extreme to walk but the side effects were terrible. My nodules occur all over my legs, hips and buttocks. When the episode is bad I also get them on my arms (lower and upper). At present I am dealing with the worst episode I've ever had: I have 50-60 nodules that cover my lower and upper legs, hips, buttocks, stomach and lower trunk (up to the bottom of my ribcage). I have about 30 nodules on my arms, from just below my shoulders to my wrists. I also tend to run very high temps (103-104) with the episodes and feel very tired. I am finding this time that the course of the episode seems shorter. In the past my nodules have lasted as long as 6 months. This time they are already half way gone after 2 weeks! 6. List any other health conditions. anaemia treated with daily iron supplement 7. State what medications or treatments you take for EN, and their effectiveness: Naprosyn Sodium (1625mg daily) - most helpful so far but still run high temps & feel pain - but manageable. 8.
