All About Prednisone/our Treatment Database

Dear Group,

For those members who are prescribed prednisone, it is important to be

aware of the risks and side effects.

I would not want to take prednisone as a first medication for EN. The

less dangerous potassium iodide (SSKI) would be my choice if I was

unable or unwilling to get bedrest and leg elevation. I know that

many doctors prescribe prednisone immediately. They figure a small

amount for a short time is ok. In theory it probably is not harmful,

but we have quite a few members recently have reported that once the

drug was stopped the EN came back with a vengeance.
