Most of the better thyroid docs do not take insurance. This is true across the country.

If you have out of network benefits, it may still be worthwhile to see him since he is one of the most clueful docs in the area.  I have not found a single in-network doctor for my insurance (Cigna nor UHC) that is worth a hill of beans. I would personally rather  pay an extra 20% to see a doctor that can help me than waste my time and energy seeing doctors that don't have a clue.

Just my two cents. B.

I just called him, he seemed nice but doesnt take insurance.

I have Hashimotos and supplement with levo and cytomel.  For me, the best doc has been Launius in ville.   He’s up on it and you won’t have to travel to Mayo.  Hashimoto’s is a relatively common reason for hypothyroid.

Regarding T3, I had a discussion at my last appointment about this.  He seems to get good results with a few minor med tweaks.  Worth pursuing.  Just my opinion, based on my own experiences.

You are right, Dr. Launius does not take insurance. However, his

rates are VERY reasonable and his charges for lab work are the

lowest of anyone. He is the most knowledgeable doctor in the DFW

area on thyroid problems. He is hypo himself. so he understands the

problem.

Very few endos give good care to hypo/Hashi patients. Thyroid cancer patients only fare a little better.
