Hi Dani,

I have severe FMS and some of the same trouble you described.

I found that sleeping with a body pillow between my knees and have it positioned

to go up thru the middle of my chest and then having my head at the top of it

helps tremendously.

Hope this suggestion helps.

For the past 2 weeks I've had a pain that just won't go away and I

was wondering if someone out there might have some suggestions or

ideas. BTW, I have FMS/CFS.

The pain is located on the upper buttocks (is this what some people

call lower back pain?) It is below the waist, feels like a severe,

deep muscle pain. It gets so bad that I actually find myself holding

my breath.

Hi Dani

It sounds like your sciatic nerve is being irritated. The first thing you

need to do is see your doctor for an appropriate diagnosis asap.

You will want to take it easy until your appointment. Use warm moist heat to

your lower back several times a day 20 minutes at a time several times

during the day. Be careful with if you are using a heating pad and don't

fall asleep with it on. Some people benefit from using ice packs but once

again be careful and do not put the ice pack directly on your skin. Use a

towel or cloth to protect your skin.

Avoid any lifting, twisting, bending or stooping. Lying on your side with a

pillow between your knees or on your back with your legs elevated on a

pillow or 2 should help.

Anti-inflammatory drugs like ibuprofen (Motrin) or naproxin (Aleve) are

often helpful. Follow the directions carefully on the label.

There are many procedures that can be done to help with sciatic pain. Please

see your doctor and get a diagnosis. We can help with suggestions here but

not actually diagnosis your problem.

Let us know what your doctor says. We care about you here.

HI Vienna,

I have not talked to anybody on this list who talks about the pain I have in my

butt. I don't even know how to explain it but I hold my breathe and hold my

butt. I think maybe it radiates from my back since I burst fractured T12 in a

boat accicent 13 yrs ago and also fractured my tailbone. So I have all these

lower back spasams and my hips hurt too. I will try the body pillow. Anything

is worth a try. Thanks. Donna
