stockpiling meds

Hi everyone,

I get worried about running out of my thyroid meds in an emergency. I'd like to

have a month or so back-up in my freezer, just for my peace of mind. I have

refills left on one Rx I got from one doc, and then another written Rx from

another doc (for the same meds.) If I try to get both of these filled at

different pharmacies will I run into trouble with my insurance company? Thanks

for any input you have.

One thing I do to ensure that I have some backup is to refill my prescriptions every 3 weeks - that's the minimum allowed by my insurance, thus in a year, I can get an extra 3 months supply.   Also, most insurances will allow an occasional early refill if you tell them that you'll be traveling. But, in my experience, they will not cover two Rxes for the same drug at the same time.

Also, just paying cash is another option that I've used in the past.
