Here is a letter I received this morning. I have not edited it. I replied that it is not my job to teach her. I said if she wants to learn, she should find a therapist with lots of experience with personality disorders. No more sugar-coating the pill. She is no longer welcome to see me in Boston when I visit my son. I am still considering going to Christmas dinner at my sister's, even though my parents will be there. I am trying to find out about the timing and who will be there so I can decide if it will be safe for me. - Dan --------------------------------------------------------------- Dear Dan, I am a slow learner, but if you like to teach, maybe you would be interested in taking me on as a student. You asked me not to ask questions of you. You asked me to simply tell you what I have been doing. I tried. Your responses encouraged me. I am scared of attempting another level of contact until I feel more secure at this level. I would like to keep contact to brief email notes for awhile, probably for a few months. I called my sister and made sure that she won't let nada disinvite me from Christmas dinner at my sister's. Nada and Fada skipped Christmas dinner last year, and they didn't even have me to blame for it. There were just " too many people " - my sister, her husband and daughter, my two sons and one of my cousins. So I think I am now prepared for a pleasant nada-less trip to the USA.
