Guest guest
Isometrics means contraction in a specific position, no movement. Isotonic means contraction against constant weight or resistance, thus movement is possible. I've also seen an isokinetic device, wherein the speed is kept constant by the device (which varies the resistance accordingly). Is there a term for moving against a variable force? Like, if we do several reps with the Bullworker without holding any position, what would it be called? or similarly, pulling on spring " chest expanders " ? I've seen it called isotonic (as applied to Bullworker) but strictly speaking, it is not, because the " tone " (force) is not constant (iso), but rather, increasing (because it's working against a spring). Is there a term for this? Gerry
