Hi Candida folks. This is an urgent request from

another board. This fellow is from Teheran, and his

sister is hospitalized and he wants to know if any

allergies could cause this. I've extracted a bit from

his first letter and a couple of responses. Please

write to Mac directly ssarmady@... since he

isn't on this list. You can cc him and respond to us,

too. Thanks, Rose

[allergies] Somebody please help - This long

fever is ending my young sister

Hello

I don't know what to do .

This very high fever does not end. This is about 17

days that fever

is started. First it had a 3 cycles a day but these

two days it does

not come down.

They have seen no bacteria and no known viruses in her

blood.

They have tested for Lupus and the result was

negative. But they say

it can be lupus yet but it may hide itself yet.

There are red rushes all over her body now.

When fever goes up her skin gets dark.

Somebody plaese help. Is this lupus or what? Can it be

a high alergie

as they guess?

Where and from whom can I ask.

Is there any experienced doctor who can I write

him/her?

I am in another country.

Mac

I hope you can get better medical advice soon. The

fever sounds too prolonged to be anything simple.

Just in case it is allergic dermatitis or something

environmental, make sure she sleeps on very clean

bedding without a lot of detergent residue. No pets

near her now at all. Air conditioning with a clean

filter if you can. You don't want her exposed to

anything that is pollinating. No perfumes, no harsh

chemicals used around her. No old books or anything

that could harbor molds or insects in her room.

Has anything changed in her environment prior to the

fever and rash? Was she living elsewhere, in contact

with someone unusual, exposed to chemicals at work or

school or home, has she had a serious emotional upset

like a death in the family or of a pet or a broken

engagement, failure in school? Think of anything that

was different three or four weeks ago.

Some allergic reactions need catalysts to set them

off. For instance, I am allergic to chocolate and to

perfume, but I can tolerate a little bit of either if

I haven't had any of the other on me in several days.

So it may be a combination of substances in her case.

Is she in a hospital?

What are you doing to manage her fevers? Do you know

that cool baths or cool damp cloths on pulse points

like the neck, wrists, backs of knees will bring the

temp down. Rubbing alcohol will too, but with a rash,

plain water is best.

Boil the water for sanitation, and for driving off

chlorine gases and other things before using it.

Distilled water is good for this, too.

Is she able to talk? Eat? Keep her diet plain, and

make sure she has plenty of clear fluids. That would

be broths and water mostly.

Aspirin can bring down a fever, but is unhealthy for

young children. If she is at least a teenager and has

tolerated aspirin before, try small doses and see if

it helps. She must drink plenty of water with the

aspirin, though.

You really need some perceptive medical help, and I

hope someone comes forward.

[allergies] Somebody please help - long fever

continues

Hello

Thank you Rose,Barbara,Rodney and all others who tried

to help.

My sister is in hospital from 5 days ago. Today more

of the rushes are

over.

Skin becomes clear but Fever continues. It is about 40

- 40.6

centigrades.

Last night it continued at 40.5. Washing her feet with

water decreases

his

fever for only 0.4 centigrades. This forced doctors

to use " Corton or

Korton " ( I am not sure about the spell) to decrease

fever.

These all started 3 days after she came to our city.

Teheran is a city

with

a very high degree of air pollution. I am not sure if

it started with

this

because many illnesses hide for one or more weeks

before they show

themselves.

They have started another test on " Spinal Cord " and

" Core of Bones " .

Again I

do not know medical phrases. They want to become sure

that it is not

leukemia.

The point that surprises is that it started so

suddenly.

Have anyone seen any alergy with these symptoms.

I will appereciate any idea and help.

By the way anyone knows any place that I can contact a

Doctor with

email?

Regards, Mac

Hi Mac,

I have alleric fevers. Not as prolonged, but certain

things will give me a migraine headache and I will

have an elevated temperature.

If they are checking her bone marrow, they are looking

very seriously at this. Not just leukemia, but other

immune disorders, maybe meningitis.

While it's true that some illnesses incubate for a few

days or even weeks, many are quick reactions, too.

Happening so soon after she came to Teheran makes me

believe she is allergic to something in the

environment. But I am no expert.

I am going to post your original message on another

board, the one for candidiasis, or chronic yeast

infections. There are all sorts of skin manifestations

in that group and some holistic doctors that might

have a more proactive view to protecting your sister's

life. I will ask them to post to you directly or at

least to my attention so that you may get the

quickest...

Greetings Everyone,

In response to the above;

I'm new to Dr D, and hope to gleen helpful tidbits in my day to day search

for help dealing with a few debilitating viruses.

I've been on a special diet and supplement protocol for 6 years. My dr then

was an " Orthomolecular Immunologist " and was able to determine exactly what

foods and supps to eat and which to avoid. I found out I was sensitive or

allergic to all herbs. major bummer as I had been treating myself with herbs

nearly 30 yrs by then. Oh well. Also found out I was sensitive to grains,

nuts, seeds, dairy, and all nightshade vegies,.... With the new protocol, I

went from being bed-ridden for nearly 2 yrs to

my present status, which is still pretty bad some days, but allows me to get

to the pool regularly and maintain a little home business.

II'll take a breath for now.... it appears de-lurking has loosened my tongue.

Best to all,

June

Quick Question.

We're back to using COBRA insurance. It looks like the company won't make

it, so my husband and I applied for Blue Cross/Blue Shield Advantage. Hubby

was accepted even though he's a few pounds over weight. I was turned down.

I've heard from others that they have had a problem getting individual

insurance after having MGB surgery. BCBS ok'ed and paid for my surgery.

It's been a week since Mike received the verbal refusal, letter is " pending "

but still not here, so don't know exactly what the reason is that I was

turned down. I do have my suspicions though. Any info would be appreciated,

size 12-14, depending. Hey, a 10 in St. 's. Now if only I could afford

them!

After looking for insurance for our company, it is my understanding that

insurance companies will not insure WLS patients for private insurance for a

period of 2-5 years after the surgery! They feel that it is too big a risk, and

that there are too many follow-up expenses involved. I don't know if they are

discriminating, or if this is SOP for all major types of surgery.

To am regarding increasing beyond 2 word mands:

My son actually has been able to use sign as a bridge to using 'I want

____ " . He'll say 'crayon' and I would combine 'I want...' with the 'I'

sign. First I would have him echo me 'I want crayon' while I gave the

sign. Then we progressed to my prompt 'I want...' while I signed 'I'.

Last I simply gave the sign prompt. Now Sam uses it as a self-prompt-he'll

sing 'I' to himself, then say 'I want crayon'

This is so true. People walk around with an attitude (good and bad). I have

been married for 13 years. In that time, only two men have " hit " on me. I

could probably attracted some more men along that way, but I don't send out

that vibe that tells me I am open to their advances. The two that did hit on

me were quite dense. LOL Although I am overweight, I really think it is

that vibe that keeps the men at bay. I never cease to be amazed at how much

of our outsides depend on our insides.

I totally agree - if deep inside you are thinking " nobody is

attracted to me " then probably nobody will be. Beauty and sex appeal

start from within (as much as that sounds like a cliche).
