Guest guest
Ursula : My two daughter's both have intrinsic asthma and test negative for most allergens. It helps to know when choosing the course of treatment for our pulmonologist. We are experiencing a good period her sinuses seem to be in check we also use vancenase puffer, she dislikes any AQ solutions. Thanks again for the info from Holland it is always interesting to get more research info from our favorite home away from home. best regards annette mom to alissa, cvid, asthmatic > >Reply-To: PedPIDonelist >To: <PedPIDonelist> >Subject: Re: Finally! >Date: Tue, 15 Jun 1999 12:38:07 -0400 > > > >Kathy - Hurray for no sinus nasties. Guest guest
Ursula, Just thought I would mention this to you. has been rast tested and allergy tested both skin and interdermals 6 times (twice a year since he was 3 1/2)....all negative until three weeks ago at age 6, at which time he had horrific welts, they told me that the highest mark on the measure was 4+...they figured 's were all 6+ or greater. We too have empheysema..remember the boys and I have A1A, so it is possible that Macey is quite allergic and you do not know it yet. 's IgE is low and he has Samter's syndrome...they just suspect that 's IgE does not work correctly..so labs do not always give you the correct diagnosis, at least in our case it did not. Guest guest
Kathy - Hurray for no sinus nasties. Also hurray for wonderful port a caths. Macey's asthma isn't allergy related so hers is said to be intrinsic. But when she was tested at 3 yrs old it's said that not all allergies are showing yet. If she tests negative at 5 then the pulmo said we'd stick with the diagnosis. Also her IgE is low so that helps rule out the allergies. I also have intrinsic asthma. Another thing that helped my pulmo determine this (besides IgE level and allergy testing) was family history. My mom has COPD and several family members have or have died from emphysema. so it seems more likely to mine and maceys pulmo that we have intrinsic. Macey takes the Vancenase pocketinhaler. We tried the AQ but she can't take it in right and what does go in drains right back down her throat and she throws it up.
