Yep, she'll know something's up. Well, maybe try and deal with her with humor. Make up a really funny outrageous lie and then stick to it no matter what she says. If you have to tell her the truth, leave out the part about the wrinkles and just tell her about the pre-cancerous lesions. I wouldn't just highlight that part. I'd make the whole thing about it. She'll probably torture you forever if you tell her you did something which she will consider vanity. Vanity in our family is a cardinal sin and I bet it is in yours. My brother was in a bad motorcycle accident once. After they stitched up his face, he looked like enstein and when he looked in the mirror, tears filled his eyes. Nada was there, and she said, " Oh, come on! " You could lose your nose and need the surgery to replace it, and she'd call it vanity.
