Dear ,

Thanks for sending in your Questionnaire. I have added the information

to our " Member Medical History " Files on the Group site and posted it

below.

You now have Full EN Group privileges.

You are receiving EN Group emails, remember that you can go to the EN

Group site whenever you like by going to :

http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/erythema_nodosum_Group/

and logging on with your Yahoo ID:accomackva

and secret password.

You do not have to have the group emails delivered to be a member here.

I see you are another member who has had EN for half your life.

Perhaps our increasing membership and EN internet info is telling us

that our turn for meaningful research is here. We have waited so long

in silence accepting " no " for an answer. Thanks for your vote of

confidence. It feels good to be appreciated. :-)

Love,

********

6. Describe your erythema nodosum symptoms or, if you do not have EN

or PG, please explain why you wish to join this group.

EN: painful inflammed nodules on shins, thighs, buttocks and

occasionally abdomen

sometimes low-grade fever, joint pain, lethargy, less often

scratchy throat (not strep) and congestion

since starting allergy meds I usually don't get the

scratchy throat but increased sinus drainage

can still be an issue - I believe my EN is

allergy-related. I worked with a GREAT allergist in

Charlottesville VA who helped alleviate my

symptoms but alas no cure! Unfortunately, I haven't

has as much luck with the allergists since moving to

Philadelphia, but I am still hopeful that

my allergy theory will pan out to a cure.

20 years ago it started with one " knot " on my shin maybe a

couple of times a year, mostly around the spring,

and ran a course of about 6 weeks. The nodules increased in

size and number over the years and frequently appeared

in spring and fall. Now my EN can last for months with the

nodules so close together that they exceed the span of

my palm and it occurs anytime of year.

7. List any other health conditions.

high blood pressure, started meds 2 1/2 years ago

osteoarthritis, started meds 4 years ago

8. State what medications/treatments you take for EN or PG and their

effectiveness:

Naproxen 500 mg 1 to 2x daily, helps with the joint pain and fever

and somewhat with the inflammation of the nodules

Methylprednisolone 4mg tablets, start with 8 mg/day and taper to 2

mg over course of a month - very effective although

it is hit or miss as to whether the EN will flare up as soon

as I stop the meds

9. When did you first get erythema nodosum or PG? EN at age 20

10. How long have you had erythema nodosum or PG? EN for 20 years

11. Do you agree to treat all EN members with respect? Yes

12. Do you agree to post NO advertisements for any products or

service? Yes

13 How did you find this group? (Google Search , MSN Search, Yahoo

Search, Referral from another Group or person?) Google search

I would only get about 6 hits when I first started searching the

internet for EN info.

It is amazing how many hits I get now when I search - and to

actually find an online

support group has been awesome! Thanks for starting it !!
