Passing this on for a friend…any

information?

**************************************************************

Would you mind sending this out to the other groups you

have. started loosing hair over the winter, back of his neck and

I thought it was from his coat collar rubbing. He also lost/pulled his

right eyebrow last fall - this has grown back. At that time we retested

his thyroid and upped his dosage to 75 mcg from 50. This did not help the

back of his head/neck and we started noticing some other spots on his head.

At first we thought maybe it was still the thyroid and switched him from a

suspenstion to pills to ensure he got the full dose each day. Then when

we didn't see any change but more areas of loss, we thought it might be ring

worm (yuck!) and treated him for a month with an antibiotic (something that

started with a g). Well now things are still the same or worse and we did

hair samples yesterday that will be cultured to see if there is any

fungus. These tests will take between 10 days and 4 weeks. I

believe we will also check the thyroid again - I have a call in to the doctor

about this. If there is no fungus then the thought is that it is alopecia

areata which is an autoimmune thing. I don't mean to sound vain about the

whole thing, but doesn't need anything else to physically distinquish

him from the rest of us! I asked the dr if this was a 'downs " thing

and he said he didn't think so, which I didn't really think either.

Hopefully, someone out there has some ideas. Thanks.
