Guest guest
Dear , On behalf of all our members, welcome to our Erythema Nodosum Group! Thanks for sending in your Questionnaire. I have added the information to our " Member Medical History " Files on the Group site and posted it below. You now have Full EN Group privileges. You are receiving ALL EN Group emails, and you can also go to the EN Group site whenever you like: http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/erythema_nodosum_Group/ and logging on with your Yahoo ID and secret password. You do not have to have the group emails delivered to be a member here. 27 years! You are not far behind me. I have had EN for 37 years now. It is my guess that when EN attacks places besides the shins, it means that your trigger or cause is very much out of control and your body simply cannot contain it. While we usually say trigger, it is possible that there can be multiple triggers as well. I also fid that when I have a fever in associaiton with EN it means I am in a very severe flare up. I usually only experience a couple lumps on the left leg and rarely get fevers, but I certainly know what you mean, and I have also had malaise as well. You are on the right track with looking for the trigger(s) and the group will try to assist you in narrowing down the list so you can be tested. We have a list of Triggers and Causes on our Files. About 100 items are on it--so plenty to work on. Is it possible your medications for allergies or asthma are triggering your EN? Have you recently changed meds? You probably know that rest and keeping the legs elevated is helpful. You might also try using a compression stocking or elastic bandages along with ice packs. For me bedrest is best, but I realize it may be hard to afford the time. Welcome to our Friendly Group. Love, ****** Alejandra C. Farias ()Case History 3/29/06 1. Your name and age: Alejandra C. Farias () - 40 2. Your location: Houston, TX 3. Your email address: acfarias@... 4. Your Yahoo ID: alexcfarias 5. Describe your erythema nodosum/PG symptoms or, if you do not have EN or PG, please explain why you wish to join this group. My symptoms/flare ups come and go. Sometimes it is a year in between and in worst cases a month. I am currently having the worst ever flare up in my life. 11 nodules on my left leg and 12 nodules on my right leg (all between upper thigh and above the ankle varying between 1/2 inch to 3 inches). I even had a couple on each inner arm between the elbow and wrist (1/2 inch); these strangely however seem to have subsided. I've irritated (bumped a couple of times) a nodule that is wrapped around low on my left leg above the ankle. This is the first time I've had a low grade fever every night for almost a week, which I am taking Tylenol. 6. List any other health conditions. I have allergies and asthma. I've been under the care of an allergy doctor and take allergy shots. Since achieving maintenance, I've noticed great improvement in my dealing with my allergies; which therefore prevent my asthma attacks. 7. State what medications or treatments you take for EN, and their effectiveness: Usually nothing, but this time due to extreme pain and fever Aleve or Tylenol. 8. When did you first get erythema nodosum or PG? I was around 13 years old when I had a couple of nodules abrupt on both shins. My parents took me to a family physician and referred me to see a Rheumatologist. He did a biopsy and informed my parents of what I had and that there was no cure. 9. How long have you had erythema nodosum or PG? I've had EN for about 27 years. 10. Do you agree to treat all EN members with respect?
