I just had to share this with everyone. This is not right.

From todays Washington Post (July 5, 2000) in the food section:

Here's a slice of life from the time-pressed 21st century: An Oklahoma

entrepreneur-moviational speaker and a food engineer at Oklahoma State

University have developed individually wrapped slices of peanut butter

just like those peel-and-eat slices of cheese. Do we really need

peanut butter in slices? "Well, people are too lazy to take out a

knife and cut off a piece of cheese, arn't they?" responds entrepreneur

Stuart Kennedy. Kennedy, who's also working on sliced jelly, says

the peanut butter part should be available nationally by early fall.

What I want to know it is, what where these people thinking???

I heard about the green ketchup. Actually, Heinz did this because sales have

dropped and they wanted a new product, something to attract kids.So they came

out with colored ketchup. There's green and one that has red and yelow

stripes. The ketchup itself tastes the same, only the color is different.

While I can't imagine myself eating green ketchup, my kids think it's cool,

so I guess their way of thinking worked. Sharon

I haven't heard about the peanut butter and jelly slices, but it doesn't

sound bad. I have 4 special needs kids.I'm not to lazy to take out a knife,

but I'm all for anything that makes life a little easier, although it does

seem a little silly, and they will probably cost a heck of alot more than

your normal peanut butter and jelly. That's one of the reasons I wouldn't

buy. I always try to budget and go for the cheapest, Sharon

The green ketchup has me a bit baffled as well.

On one level it makes sense, since people do eat green tomatoes (at least in

America they do). But I don't think that I want to try green ketchup. To

quote Jay Leno " How do you tell when it spoils? "

Ayiiiieee...don't get me started on cheese slices...it is one of the few

things my son will eat, but if the slice is broken just the slightest bit, he

refuses to eat it!!!

Oh... kids... yes...

But their (Heinz and it's millions companions) way of THINKING, is

the $$$ thinking. And NOT the 'that is healthy for kids'

thinking......$o) (see those dollar signs in their eyes..... or ƒ

guilders :o)

So I guess the discussion about colouring --not good for kids (and

grown-ups as well :o)) for it can make them having hyperly behaviour,

just because of those added chemical colours--, is now 'old news' and

just eat the fun new products (as if we need them....) :o(

Since I prepare my own meals (talking decades here :o)) I have hoped

they (foodcompanies) would get things OUT of their products, like

additives, colours and poison (herbicides, pesticides) and NOT

putting more rubbish into it. You never know how it infects your

health....and your kids' health that is.....

Me being too principle?

Ric, yes I have unwrapped the cheese slices many times, and it can be a pain

at times, but my 3 yr old autistic son does it with no problem. What I meant

by convenient is it's easier. Have you ever tried to spread peanut butter and

the bread tore, etc? I have, and my 5yr old loves to do things on his own,

but he can't spread the peanut butter without making a mess and tearing the

bread up. However, he can open a slice and put it on the bread and presto. So

to someone like him, it is a convenience. It's like all the microwave stuff

now. It's easier to microwave than to cook from scratch. There are alot of

inventions I have thought were stupid, and they have made millions. So what

others consider bad or silly, some consider good or convenient. To each his

own. I'm in no way trying to offend you or anyone here, but I felt you put

me in a position toi elaborate. God bless, Sharon
