Judy,

In and Noble, usually in the Education area near the Children's

and/or Parenting Area you can see the Bob Books. They are small books,

usually come in a set and are black and white. Simple, and repetitive and

very beginner.

Home Schoolers often use them as well.

Judy,

" Bob Books " are usually the very early reader books. they focus on the

repetative use of prefixes and suffixes that children typically learn first.

they have very few pages so children can feel the sense of accomplishment in

reading an " entire " book themselves. most libraries have them, but they are

also very easy to make yourself if you would like to use topics that interest

your own child. you can also illustrated them, or have your child practice

some fine-motor skills and illustrate them. additionally, during the first

read, you can have your child illustrate after each page in order to aid in

comprehension.

a typical Bob book...

" Bob ran.

Bob saw Jan.

They ran, and ran, and ran.

Jan and Bob played in the sand.

They also played kick the can. "

hope this helps!
