Better on antibiotic?

Hi Listmates,

Looking for some input. My daughter has lost her Autism diagnosis,

but she still has attention issues, some speech delay, and random gut

issues. I call it " Autism Light " .

Anyway, 2 weeks ago she got strep throat. We've chelated for 3 years

and done biomed for almost 4. During that entire time, we went from a

child who was always, ALWAYS sick, to a child who has gotten sick

twice in 4 years.

This recent bout of strep was her first of the kind and it was nasty.

She was very sick, high fever and all.

We went on antibiotics. I was convinced we would have all of our gut

problems back since she is and was such a yeasty kid.

But in fact, just the opposite happened! Her BM's became perfect! And

her attention was fabulous, receptive skills unparalleled. She lost

her quick temper and actually shared with her sister (sharing is not

easy for her at all).

We've been off the antibiotics for almost a week now and all of the

old behaviors are returning.

She was treated with vancomycin for clostridia years ago. Does anyone

think or have any experience with an underlying bacterial infection

causing this kind of behavior?

I keep my son on antibiotics b/c he is recovering on them, versus a major backslide when going off them. I feel that bacterial issues may be the root of his problems.Caryn Reid
