Guest guest
Dear Jan, On behalf of all our members, welcome to our Erythema Nodosum Group! Thanks for sending in your Questionnaire. I have added the information to our " Member Medical History " Files on the Group site and posted it below. You now have Full EN Group privileges. You are receiving ALL EN Group emails, and you can also go to the EN Group site whenever you like: http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/erythema_nodosum_Group/ and logging on with your Yahoo ID and secret password. You do not have to have the group emails delivered to be a member here. I am very familiar with LDN (LowDoseNaltrexone) and I belong to 2 LDN Yahoo Groups. I am aware of the work being done and the good results many are having with it, but you are the first I know of who is taking it for EN. Most who take it are using it for MS or Crohn's. In America it is often hard to get a dr. to prescribe it, and then a hassle to find a compounding pharmacy to fill the script. Many in the USA use Skips Pharmacy, which I think is in Florida. I'm very interested to see if LDN helps you. If it does, we may have a cheap and effective new use of an old drug to add to our arsonal. Pleae keep us posted on your progress with it. Good luck, and Welcome to our Group! Love, ******* Jan Kaye's Case History 11/3/05 1. Your name and age: Jan Kaye 46 2. Your location Edmonton 3. Your email address: jkfsoccer18@... 4. Your Yahoo ID jkfsoccer18 5. Describe your erythema nodosum/PG symptoms or, if you do not have EN or PG, please explain why you wish to join this group. I first was diagnosed when I was 39 or 40 (1999). I was in a very stressfull job and marriage at the time. I resigned from my job and was on bedrest for about a month (with children I was really only resting when they were in school) The lesions were evident in both legs most on the lower half. After about 3 – 4 months they cleared up. In 2004 I started getting 3 – 4 lumps regularly and have continued since that time. Sometimes I will get a bit of a sore throat, cough and sniffles but nothing to extreme. The Dr. put me on natural cortisone in the spring of 2005 with no changes. He has just prescribed LDN (LowDoseNaltrexone). During this last year and a half I have been going through separation and divorce and went back to school so stress level was pretty high. Stress has decreased in the last month so I am hoping to see some improvement in the lesions and with the new prescription. I wear pressure stockings as well because in 1991 when my son was born I had DVT in my left leg (which is where I get 95% of my lesions) from the groin to the ankle was filled with clots. I wonder if this has any link to EN? My left leg swells and gets tired easily so the stockings help to ease both of those symptoms. I also feel when I have lesions the stockings help to support them so they are not has painful. 6. List any other health conditions. None 7.
