Guest guest
Dear M and and Group, Thanks so much for your input M and . I do appreciate your asking the Hubby about setting up the Foundation Website, M! I know a lot of time and expertise is involved. Do you know if we can get a " .org " email address just for the asking, or is that something you need to apply for from the gov't. Big gaps in my knowledge when it comes to computers as you can see. :-/ I know about PayPal, but dont have an acct. myself. We do want to make it as easy as possible for anyone, anywhere to donate. , thank for your insights and for bringing me down to reality when it comes to how much (little?) research can be purchased for $35,000. That is the amount that NORD uses for its " Seed Money " research grants. They have a team of 15 MD's who review all grant appliants. They then select the one whose proposal has, in their opinion, the most promise. I don't know what they do if they get no appliants. I would find that out BEFORE I handed them any money. As far as where to set up the Foundation, I felt that since the majority of the membership resides in the USA, it should be set up here. And Since I live in CA. and want to make sure things get off on the right foot, I figured I'd set it up in CA. As far as taxation is concerned, we do not need to worry: http://www.form-a-corp.com/non-profits_QA.php A non-profit corporation is exempt from State and Federal taxes. Incorporating in the state of Del. is the cheapest, but the savings is only $31 over Ca. as far as I can tell. No corporate income tax is required if we file in Del., however and that is something to consider: http://www.bizfilings.com/learning/learndelaware.htm If we don't need to keep the accumulated funds in a Del. bank, I will be happy to set up the Foundation bank account at a CA. bank where I will be able to make deposits and deal with a live person should I need to. Steve and I have a good relationship with Wells Fargo Bank which is a couple blocks from our home. We also have accounts at Union Bank which is about 5 blocks away. I would see which one give us the best deal. I do hope an attorney in the group will come forward to help us. I am somewhat confused about this issue of if we need to file a tax return even if we are exempt and owe no tax. As far as contacting dr's or researchers who have recently published articles about EN, I have not found any recent prospective studies-- in 2004 just 5 retrospective EN studies were done, none of which were done in America or the UK. The countries where these studies were done was: India, Germany, Turkey, Japan and Israel. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?cmd=PureSearch & db=pubmed & details_t\ erm=%22Erythema%20Nodosum%22%5BMeSH%5D%20AND%20idiopathic%5Btiab%5D And I wonder if our dollars will buy more research in places like India, where they do speak English. Please, Group, don't jump on me about outsourceing and such. We are looking to find medical answers from whomever is able and willing to do the work for us. And if we need to go to the other end of the world to find it, so be it. Anyway we have yet to set the Foundation up or have any money in the till. Please Group, keep the dialogue going. The more issues we address in the beginning, the fewer problems we will encounter later on. Wishing Everyone a Happy and Painfree Day!
