Guest guest
I think the ongoing discussion about ways of thinking (NT vs AS, PDD, ADHD, etc.) is completely fascinating. As I mentioned previously, I (NT) primarily think in words, talking to myself in my brain. I rarely think in pictures or conceptually. However, I do dream vividly (in color), seeing reality during the dreams (like a movie). But my conscious mind talks to itself! ) I asked my husband (NT as far as I know) how he thinks and he says he thinks both ways -- in words and in pictures. But, primarily in pictures. The thinking in pictures contributes to alot of what I consider his genius. For example, he is building a shrimp farm in South America and says he can see the entire 600 acres and exactly what it looks like in 3-D, complete with (120) 4-acre ponds. This simply astonishes me, but I completely believe him, based on his past engineering feats. However, what I really find intriguing is he says that the thinking in pictures causes him to have insomnia (he rarely sleeps well) and at times gives him severe headaches because of the intensity. Can anyone else relate to this?? I asked both my 7-year-old, Charlie (AS), and my 10-year-old, Jay (NT). They both say that they think in words and pictures, but mostly pictures! Wow!
