And, not only am I posting, but doing it twice... :-)

So about the MRI - I just had two this year, and they took forever. Both were

with contrast (and by the way, the techs both assured me it's very safe

contrast, because it's made of galladinium or something like that that most

people

haven't been exposed to, so they can't have an allergic reaction to it). It

does make the test longer, though - they usually do 3-5 series without the

contrast depending on what they're looking at, then another few with it.

Anyway,

each MRI (full set) took about 30-45 minutes. The first time, they said they

wouldn't use my port for the contrast in case it clogged it, the second time

they didn't seem to care. It's noisy and tight in there, so I think you may

want to go with the general or a GOOD dose of Versed/Fentanyl... I don't know if

Macey would handle it well, otherwise. I'm pretty good at things like that and

still had a hard time not scratching my nose (or even twitching it to

get rid of an itch), and even with headphones, it's loud in there. Ursula - are

they looking at her hypothalamus and pituitary for the diabetes insipidus?

Hope that helps!

Ursula,

It's me again. " With contrast " just means that they are going to do an IV to

put a die into the veins so that they can see whatever they are looking for

more clearly. The only problem I had with the die was a metallic taste in my

mouth that went away in a couple of hours. And it makes the procedure

longer because they have to wait for it to circulate -- who knows how long for

a child.

And does your doctor know about tarry stools? That's definitely something

that he or she should know about.
