Dear ,

Thanks for sending in your Questionnaire. I have added the information

to our " Member Medical History " Files on the Group site and posted it

below.

You now have Full EN Group privileges.

You are receiving EN Group emails, and you can also go to the EN Group

site whenever you like by going to :

http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/erythema_nodosum_Group/

and logging on with your Yahoo ID and secret password.

You do not have to have the group emails delivered to be a member here.

Sounds like we have another " idiopathic " member [where no trigger for

EN is known]. I'm that way too. I've had EN for 37 yrs. now. I have

never taken meds for EN, but with you working, I certainly can

understand your needing something. I hope you get as much leg

elevation as possible and perhaps a compressin stocking might help

you. I have taken to wearing one in or out of remission.

Love,

5. Describe your erythema nodosum/PG symptoms or, if you do not have

EN or PG, please explain why you wish to join this group.

I was diagnosed with EN in the fall of 1992 after trying to take birth

control pills. After 2 or 3 months of trying to take the pill, I quit

because of the side effects it was causing. (migraines, distorted

vision, heavy periods/cramping) Over the past 13 years, I have

suffered recurring flare-ups of EN and the closest correlation that

any doctor has suggested is stress. I have seen 6 different doctors

since the first onset in '92, including a dermatologist,

rheumatologist, and internal medicine physician.

6. List any other health conditions.

I have no other serious health issues.

7. State what medications or treatments you take for EN, and their

effectiveness:

600 mg ibuprofen 3 times a day, which upsets my stomach and works in

varying degrees to relieve the pain from the nodules.

1/3 tablet trazedon at bedtime so I can sleep through the pain of EN -

this leaves me feeling groggy and disorientented for a few hours after

I get up in the morning to go to work, so I don't take it unless it's

when I don't have to work the next day.

1 tablet Atavan twice daily at the onset of a flare-up to control

stress - this makes me drowsy and loopy so I only take 1 tablet,

otherwise I don't function well at work.

Those are the medicines that my physician has prescribed. I am

finishing a medrol dose pack (steroids) for my current flare-up, and

it seems to have helped push the EN to its receding cycle. Sometimes

I will take Aleve or Tylenol instead of the ibuprofen, and I take a

daily multi-vitamin/mineral.

8. When did you first get erythema nodosum or PG?

EN first diagnosed fall of 1992.

9. How long have you had erythema nodosum or PG?

13 years

10. Do you agree to treat all EN members with respect? yes

11.Do you agree to post NO advertisements for any products or

services? yes

12. How did you find this Group? (Google, Yahoo, Ask Jeeves Search,

referral from another group or person etc.) google search
