We took blood... She will call me in a day or two. We wanted to see where my

labs pan out.

We talked about a 30 mg increase per day.. maybe more if needed by the labs to

get me higher in the range.

I told her that I had supplemented with two extra pills in a weeks time and felt

great. That would be a 60 mg per day increase.

I shared with her that for me - high blood pressure, high pulse were hypo signs.

They were my initial presenting signs when I was diagnosed by Dr. L.

I have so far avoided high blood pressure meds by staying on top of my thyroid.

I need Dr. G to work with me.. because frankly in Dallas there just aren't a lot

of options - as you all know.

I wouldn't know where to go or what to do next. I don't want to switch to

synthetics and certainly not with 3 months left in my pregnancy.

If I am missing something - please help redirect me..

You are on the right track IMHO by being assertive about the ranges where you feel well. And, you are also right that high blood pressure does go along with hypothyroidism.  Here's a journal article on this topic:http://jcem.endojournals.org/cgi/content/full/87/5/1996

So, please continue being assertive. Showing the doctor this article and even having her include it in your file, so that it can back up her treating you with higher doses, might help.  I think you are right that you should stick with her at this juncture - my guess would be that you couldn't find another doctor that would start treating you right now.  However, for the sake of your health and that of your child, you do need to be extremely assertive, in as nice a way as possible, that you need more replacement hormone to get to the point where you feel better. Actually, at 6 mos, you should be feeling pretty good. It's only early in the pregnancy and later that you should feel more tired than normal.  In particular, for a first child when you can rest when you need to and you're not chasing a toddler around all the time.

Good luck and many blessings for a continued healthy pregnancy. B.

Blood work is back already.

We are increasing 30 mg per day - from 210 to 240 mg.

My Free T4 is 0.97 (unchanged)

my Free T3 is 2.4 (down from 3.1)

- You ROCK.. thank you for the article. I have printed for myself, Dr. G

and my OB..

Jan - I asked if that was aggressive enough, she felt it was, but wants me to

call her in 2 weeks to tell her how I am feeling. I'm not thrilled with that

answer, but I am gonna have to be flexible.. (refer to 2nd posting that I don't

have much of a choice right now.. who is going to take me 7 months pregnant? Who

could I see that will keep me on natural thyroid meds?)

As you all know the frustrating part is that there just aren't docs out there...

I love this group and the information I get here.

I feel we have to find a way to work with the docs we have remaining.. I can't

just throw in the towel here.. and then what, take nothing - absolutely not an

option.
