Guest guest
Dear Kris, I gather from Andy's lack of messages recently that he is busy with something. (Which could change any time....I am not trying to start a panic here, just observing that Andy has not written anything on the list in a few days.) The reason I mention that is that I'm answering this mostly because I don't know if Andy is around. I don't especially " know the answer " , but will hum a few bars anyway. On to your question. I think this is one of those " vague " areas where there is not a clear " right " answer---- Consider that some people START WITH ALA, some start with BOTH, some start with just DMSA. Since Andy thinks it is OKAY to start with just ALA, I hardly think he will think it is horrible to ADD ALA at one point versus at another. It seems like not such a big deal one way or the other, you can do it either way. The only risk I have heard of is that ALA may give you more side effects. I think you'll know if that happens, so I would say it is your call which way you want to go. If you get lots of side effects, you can stop the ALA or lessen the amount. Or, you could wait till the DMSA stops getting any merc out. best, Moria From: " Al and Kris Asker " <aka@...> Mailing-List: list ; contact -owner Delivered-mailing list List-Unsubscribe: <mailto: -unsubscribe > Date: Mon, 19 Mar 2001 18:06:39 -0700 Reply- Subject: [ ] Question For Andy On March 8th, when you were asked how do you know when you're ready to add in ALA, and you said " When DMSA is no longer leading to substantial improvements, or after 3 months have passed, whichever is first. " I wanted to make sure that I was reading your answer correctly. Ben doesn't have high copper, but his mercury is still in the high range after 5 months of chelating with DMSA alone. We are no longer seeing substantial results, but our DAN doctor said that we need to wait until the mercury is as close to zero on the test as we can possibly get. Which way is correct? Thanks. Guest guest
Trisha understands this very well. I think she gives the DAN! doctors more credit than is due, however.
