Guest guest
Hi all, unbeknownst to us until today, one of our living kidney donors from June presented to the ER over the weekend w/classic symptoms of a UTI. The diagnosis was confirmed by UA, culture and labs, the on-call partner of her donor surgeon was consulted, and she was admitted overnight for "conservative" tx given her donor status, and an elevated creatinine from her baseline of 1.1 to 1.13. We don't think this could be called a complication of donation for purposes of KACC and Medicare B coverage. Any opinions to the contrary out there? A touchy business as you might imagine, b/c the donor instructed the admitter to "bill her brother's coverage."
