Thank you for your reply, much appriciated. Do any of you get

urticaria (nettle rash )at he same time? Does wearing support hosery

help? How long is this going to keep coming up (she has had it on and

off for 5 weeks)? Do the lumps hurt? My daughter says not, but when

she broke her collar bone age 3, she said that it didn't hurt either!!

So should I give pain relief medicine? I have looked at the pictures

and her diognosis looks right. Thanks! Jen

Dear Jen,

Hives are not associated with EN. Here is a link about hives:

http://www.users.globalnet.co.uk/~aair/urticaria.htm

Support hose or eleastic bandages do help some of us, and I use a TEDS

compression on the one Leg I get EN on.

Yes, EN can be very painful for many of us, and less painful for

others. For me the position of the lump mattered. Close to a join

hurts me more than on the area between joints. Edema or swelling made

the pain much worse.

If your daughter says she is not is not in pain, I would not give her

meds. unless teh dr. prescribed it. It won't make the lumps go away.

I had hives twice and it was horrible. They itched so much I felt like

ripping off my skin. For me it was worse than EN, but we all are very

different and my EN, while I've had it for 37 yrs, is a mild case.

There is no way to predict the course of the EN, but 6-8 weeks is the

average length of a flare up as written in the literature.

Love,
