Welcome e, I am also from Rochester, NY. I am glad to know

someone who is so close. This is a very good group, very supportive

and very informational. Hope you will enjoy.

I have a question for you and the whole group. I was diagnosed with

EN in February. Now I think it is recovering. The problem is I am

also trying to get pregnant. I am really concerned about having EN

while pregnant. I am wondering how dose it feel to have EN when

pregnant? Is there any treatment for EN or just for the pain that is

safe for both the mon and the baby? Any info will be helpful.

Hi, Chris!

A fellow Rochesterian! Neat. Thanks for the welcome!

I have to agree with as far as being pregnant and having EN goes.

I ended up getting it during my second trimester and it lasted pretty

much until I gave birth Although it was a nuisance, it had no ill

effects on my daughter. It definitely seemed like normal pregnancy

water retention exacerbated the condition for me; I fared much better

when I was able to put my legs up a little. I didn't need any

medication to manage the pain, and I never used ice packs, though I

wish I would have thought of it! I bet that using ice packs in

conjunction with putting your legs up would really work wonders. Best

of luck to you! My daughter is 14 months old now and the most wonderful

thing in my life. Okay, she can be a handful, too, but I'm so enjoying

watching her grow and develop and learn new things every day. Good

luck, Chris!

did not hinder my pregnancy I took paracetamol for the pain and used

ice packs to ease the swelling, it made no difference to my pregnancy

also I have had 5 pregnancies and only had en flare up on two of the

pregnancy and have 6 healthy children who had no problems after birth

so having en when pregnant can get you down and is painfull but has

never caused any problems when I have been pregnant. hope you stay well

and hope you become pregnant and have no trouble it is a wonderfull

feeling being pregnant and is rewarding watching your children grow up

good luck

Hi and welcome

I've posted a couple of times about EN and pregnancy. I had my 4th episode of

EN on week 6 of my pregnancy and my Doctor reckons that elivated hormones are to

blame. The pain and swelling have now subsided and I'm now left with blotches

all over my legs which fade daily. In terms of treatment I used to take

ibruprofen before my pregnancy but as this drug is prohibited in pregnancy I had

to stick with paracetomal which I limited to when I really felt at my worst.

Bed rest, TLC, sitting with feet up, etc. are all that I suggest, plus as many

trips to the doctors as you can manage for urine checking.

I hope that this helps.

Best of luck with your pending pregnancy.
