I just edited the Texas Armour Docs list and revised my comments on Dr. Berg. If you are already on Armour or other dessicated thyroid, he will write your Rx, but do not come to him for a diagnosis or to be switched from $ynthroid to natural. Also, he will run Free T3 and Free T4 if you ask for them, but may run the Totals if you do not specifically ask for the Frees. He is still a good doctor for some of us, but not for others. Actually, as long as he doesn't decrease my dose, I might be good to try this for a while. I decided to stick with the ERFA rather than mess with the compounded. I did notice the day I took the compounded I had a hard time going to sleep, which had been getting better. Not sure if that had anything to do with it, but like you said...why change something that is working? I never was a thyroid patient of Dr. R.I have always seen him mainly for "other" hormones, although we rely on his advice in many matters including thyroid. Dr. Berg is my primary care doc. He prescribes my thyroid as did my previous PCP. We do not want to confuse the ESL pharmacist and one-digit-IQ pharmtech at my drug plan by sending them scripts from more than one doc.Yes. He sometimes also runs a Total T4. I can't object to that, although I need to explain to him why the Totals are not very relevant for anyone with any estrogen in their bodies natural or otherwise.As for TSH, any doc with half a brain will run the TSH in order to keep their license. . . . .even if they are smart enough to ignore it most of the time.Dr. Berg has waded into deep water to help thyroid patients get their medication. By his own admission, he does not understand very much about adjusting doses. I do fine, because on my first visit with him, I negotiated the right to adjust my own thyroid and diabetes meds. He said, "We will try it, " but he has not vetoed any of my choices in those matters. I am in the habit of sending an email to arrange my blood draw a week before I see him. I ask for the specific tests that I need in that email.
