The public schools insist on drugging your kind instead of teaching them - you aren't going to do worse at home regardless of whether you have a teaching credential.>>>>>>>>> Couldn't have said it better Andy. This is exactly why I am homeschooling my AS son Mike - age 13. I happen to have teaching credentials but, anybody with drive to teach their own can do it!!! I also homeschooled my ADHD/Dyslexic son - age 9 - until I found this wonderful private school here for children with dyslexia and they believe in doing everything you can do AVOID Ritalin. They also have low chemicals in the building and spectrum lighting!!!! Too bad we can't force the public school into the mode of helping children. I was so frustrated the last year I taught because of this very issue- medication!!!! They wanted my ADHD child on Ritalin and guess what...I'm his mother...I get the final say NOT them!!!!!!!! I told them maybe the better idea would be for them to actually follow his IEP - novel concept huh? Furthermore, when he was in public school he was " in trouble " almost everyday. Now that he attends this wonderful school, all comments from his teachers are VERY positive!!!!!! Gee - wonder who was the problem, my son or the school?? Good Grief!!!!!!!!! -- Sharon Howell Baton Rouge, LA showell48@...
