Guest guest
Dear Group, Since scant research is being done on EN I like to look at the research done in the related disorders to see how they may pertain to us. There is something very unique about EN. While most disorders have a specific trigger or cause, [be it genetic, viral, bacterial, fungal, " autoimmune " etc.] EN can be triggered by a multitude of causes. There are close to 100 known casues including normal pregnancy and many different triggering medications both prescription and even herbal. Does anyone know of another disorder whose etiology is not only often known, but so very numerous? Perhaps the etiology is not the important part of the puzzle. Maybe it is the way our bodies react to a myriad of allergins, and microbes. We have not been genetically tested to see if we have similar defects. Why when we have hundreds of members can't we find a way to compare ourselves? I think this is one of the first research projects that should be undertaken when we collect enough to get research done. If a genetic defect is found, then we can work towards repairing the damage. All we are doing now is applying a bandage to the disorder--swallowing meds that reduce inflammation instead of discovering why we are getting ill in the first place.
