So, My Rhumatologist brought me down to FIVE mg and left me there for 8 years.... I was worried about what the prednisone would do being on it that long...but, he assured me that this Low " Maintence Dose " wouldn't be enough to cause problems later. Well, I have found out now that isn't true. Even low doses of Pred can do damage. I now have Diabetes (which is drug induced from Long term use of Prednisone). ******** If your doctor prescribes a Low " Maintence Dose " of prednisone be wary.
